International Conference
on
Advances in Steel Structures
Hong Kong, 11-14 December 1996

Scope and Objectives
This is the first ever conference to be held in Hong
Kong on steel structures, and is intended to provide a
forum for researchers and designers to discuss recent
advances in the analysis, behaviour, design and
construction of steel, aluminium and composite steel-
concrete structures. The conference will consist of a
number of invited plenary lectures by world-renown
experts and concurrent sessions. The last day of the
conference will be devoted to a series of presentations
on major steel construction projects in the region.
Papers relating to all aspects of the analysis, behaviour,
design and construction of steel, aluminium, and
composite steel-concrete structures are invited. The
following topics are not exhaustive and papers which fall
within the general theme of the Conference will be
considered for presentation:
* Beams, Columns, Beam-Columns, Frames,
Trusses, Plates, Shells, Connections
* Space Structures, Tubular Structures, Cable
Structures, Tall Buildings, Bridges, Curtain
Walling, Roof Cladding, Silos, Tanks, Pressure
Vessels, Pipelines, Offshore Structures,
Chimneys, Towers and Masts
* Structural Stability, Structural Optimisation,
Computational Methods, Fatigue, Impact
Mechanics, Dynamics, Earthquake Engineering,
Wind Engineering, Vibration Control, System
Identification, Design Codes, Expert Systems.
Official Language
English will be the official language of the Conference
for both oral and written presentation.
Key Dates
Submission of Abstracts: 1 January 1996
Provisional Acceptance: 1 March 1996
Submission of Final Papers: 1 June 1996
Final Notice of Acceptance: 1 August 1996
Proceedings
The proceedings of the conference will be published in
hardcover book format by Elsevier Science Ltd.
Registration Fee
The conference registration fee is US$500 which covers
conference dinner, coffee, lunches and conference
proceedings.
