I need urgent access to the latest data available on the behaviour,
performance, and potential problems that might be encountered when
reinforced concrete (high density - 220pcf) is exposed to high temperatures
(above 100C/212F) for extended periods of time (decades). To complicate the
problem this concrete will be exposed to a radioactive environment for up to
100 years.
As with many nuclear facilities in the States and elsewhere around the
world, spent fuel from CANDU nuclear power generation will be stored during
an interim period in carbon steel lined reinforced concrete containers for a
period of up to 100 years.
What recent research is available in this subject area? The information I
have at present is from some fire tests, which unfortunately did not expose
the R.C. to extended periods of time (decades). Can someone reccommend any
contacts (with e-mail addresses) at universities, research facilities, or
the NRC.
