I've had my HP48G for four years with no problems. The HP48G I had
before that lasted four years also before it was stolen.

Incidently do you know where I can get a cheap PC connectivity cable?

Actually I have not had luck with HP48G's. I like the way they work but
it
seems like they have a meltdown  every couple of years when you really
need
them. I think I went through 4 HP48G's. This is probably one of the
reasons
HP lost the calculator war. 

I had a HP48SX in college and that lasted about 10 years and they quit
making them.  The closest thing was the HP48G.
