Fred,Thank you for the lead. I'd searched the ca.gov pages "Riley Act" but had no success. I appreciate the lead. I have done some calling around, and I understand that the City of Burbank actually has a copy of the 1937 UBC that I can review. As the building in question was built 1937/38, I think this will be very fruitful.. I've also learned that all UBCs from 1927 through 60 or 64 are available on CD from ICBO... or is it now ICC? For anyone doing historic code research, it might be worth the $245 considering the search capabilities.
